TEXAS STORM SQUAD

- project type  FILMIC   - design type   VISUAL

Texas Storm Squad follows the elite rescue team Texas Task Force 1 and their disaster response to Tropical Storm Imelda, which caused devastating floods in Southeastern Texas in 2019. A mixture of factual and observational documentary styles, it presented a typical art direction challenge - to develop a visual language that could display precise scientific data without breaking from the drama.

I designed the overall look and feel of the graphics, including the 3d maps and typography, and set up templates for other artists to use in production. As part of that I utilised GIS software (geographic information systems) to build a seamless high resolution map of The Gulf of Mexico in the wider context of North America and the Atlantic, and researched data sources to represent storm Imelda, producing data-visualisations using raw radar data in collaboration with scientists at NOAA.
